Charles Najjar is a financial advisor specialized in portfolio management and investments in real estate, stocks, bonds and structured products.
He manages portfolios of several private investors and give advice to financial institutions and philanthropic foundations.
In parallel to his professional activity, he developed a strong interest for the Shroud of Turin. His interest for the Shroud started in an unexpected way, during an unplanned visit to the Sanctuary of Sainte Thérèse de Lisieux where he discovered an exposition about the Shroud.
Starting by being very skeptical about it, he became puzzled by the incredible details that the image shows. He started a 25-year journey of research and analysis that led him to the conclusion that the Shroud is not only authentic, but it is also a scientific proof of the Resurrection of Jesus.
Wishing to present his findings and the scientific approach that led to this conclusion, he published a book about the Shroud, naming it the "5th Gospel", the one left as a testimony by Jesus himself.
Being also fascinated by the town of Assisi in Italy, Charles has been carried to develop two museums, one about the Passion of Jesus as told by the Shroud, and one about the Nativity of Jesus, grouping Nativity scenes from all over the world.
This is indeed a very intriguing question. The Catholic Church has accepted many miracles and apparitions with often much less proofs than the Shroud. So why they are reluctant to officially declare the Shroud as authentic and promote it at such?
I guess the Catholic Church knows very well its importance and is afraid to commit to its authenticity because it doesn’t want that Catholic faith becomes dependent on it.
According to the Catholic Church, faith cannot be proven. It is a spiritual gift from God, and it should remain as such. I personally do not agree with that view. If Jesus has given proofs to his disciples why would He deprive his future followers from having one?
If Jesus has indeed left a proof of his existence, his passion and his resurrection, who are we to decide if it right or wrong for our faith ?
These burn holes are not linked to the Chambery fire. They are clearly burns coming from a candle. They probably occurred by accident during a procession or while someone was examining it closely at the light at a candle.
These holes are an additional proof that the Carbon-14 test results are false because they dates the Shroud between 1260-1390 way after the formation of these burn holes.
On the contrary! One of the proofs that the Shroud is authentic lies in the fact that the body of Jesus had this exception of not being cleaned before being placed in the tomb, because, as mentioned in the Gospels, the disciples didn’t have time to clean it because the Sabbath had almost started, and as we know well, no single work is allowed during the Sabbath, not even burying a body.
This is exactly why it is difficult to imagine that the body could be that of someone else than Jesus. There are so many particularities that matches exactly the story of Jesus that the probability that the Shroud is not that of Jesus is almost nil.
